Hypnotherapy Training - FAQ’s
Your questions answered
We understand that embarking on a journey of education and self-discovery is a significant step, and you may have a multitude of questions along the way.
This page provides you with clear, concise answers to the most commonly asked questions about our Hypnotherapy Training programs.
You have a lot of courses, where should I begin?
When it comes to starting your journey in hypnotherapy training for a part-time income, we have a range of options designed to cater to your needs. Read more.
What happens if I can't attend a module of your course?
If for any reason you cannot attend one of our course modules, rest assured, we’ve got you covered. We offer personalised 1-2-1 training sessions to catch you up on the essential material you may have missed. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to retake the missed module when the next year’s intake of students commences.
What if I can only make it to one of the days of a module?
We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you’re unable to attend one of the module days but can make it to the other, we’ve got a flexible approach. We’ll focus more on theory when you’re not present and prioritise practical training when the full class is in attendance.
Is the course fully accredited?
Absolutely, our course holds full accreditation from the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR), which, at the time of writing, is the largest governing body for hypnotherapists in the UK. Once you become registered with the GHR, you’ll be eligible to apply for registration with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)
I've never run a business before; it all seems a bit intimidating.
Starting and managing a business can be daunting, especially if it’s a new venture. However, we’re here to support you. We offer Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses at a substantial discount for our graduates, including specialised training in marketing and setting up your own hypnotherapy practice.
What about insurance when I start practising as a professional hypnotherapist?
We’ve got you covered on that front too. We’ve partnered with insurance brokers to offer you affordable coverage for your first year of practice working with the public. At the time of writing, this coverage is available for just £29.95.
Is there a lot of coursework involved?
Our course includes recommended reading and case studies as part of your coursework requirements. While the GHR mandates a minimum of three case studies, we recommend completing at least five. These case studies can be documented and will contribute to your total hours of study. Additionally, we encourage you to keep records of any relevant videos you watch and books you read that are not on our recommended list, as well as any other hypnotherapy-related materials you come across. Every bit of knowledge and experience counts.
How can I pay my deposit?
We offer multiple payment options for your convenience. You can pay your deposit by cheque, made out to Chris Fleet Ltd. Alternatively, you can make payment via card at the Devon Clinic by calling 01803 557681 and requesting to speak to Chris Fleet. We also accept payments via BACS at Santander Bank, with the account number 35724785 and sort code 090128.
How do I pay in instalments?
Paying in instalments is easy with our Direct Debit option through GoCardless. We will collect your account details for this purpose and set up the Direct Debit arrangement. Please note that we prefer not to use the card machine for these payments, as it can impact the clinic’s turnover. We also accept cash and bank transfers, but Direct Debit is our preferred method of payment.
Do I have to be an academic to take the course?
No, academic qualifications are not a prerequisite for our course. Your desire to facilitate positive change in the lives of others is what truly matters. We believe that passion and dedication are the keys to success in Hypnotherapy.
Are there any exams?
Yes, there are two sets of tests as part of our course. The first is a practical test in module 9, where you’ll conduct a ‘live’ 30-minute session with members of the public, assessed by an external examiner. In module 10, there is a one-hour written exam that primarily consists of multiple-choice questions and requires written responses ranging from a sentence to a paragraph.
Exams make me nervous; can I re-sit them if I struggle?
Absolutely, we understand that exams can be challenging. You have the option to re-sit either the practical or written exam if needed, although a small fee may apply. It’s worth noting that, at the time of writing, no student has required a re-sit.
We would be very pleased to answer any other questions you may have about our Hypnotherapy Training and Hypnotherapy Courses.

Once I qualify, is there any other support available?
Yes, we’re here to support you beyond your qualification. We offer Supervision (link) and Continued Professional Development (CPD) training sessions at significantly reduced rates for our students.
Additionally, we have three former students now practising at The Devon Clinic CIC, a multi-disciplinary health clinic that I established. Chris is a registered supervisor and CPD provider with the GHR, ensuring you have access to ongoing support and development opportunities in your professional journey as a hypnotherapist.
Do I need to do any research, read hypnotherapy books, or prepare for the Hypnotherapy Discovery Weekend?
No, there’s no need for any prior preparation. Just bring yourself, a pen, and an open mind; we will provide all the necessary materials, including the inductions and scripts you’ll be using during and after the course.
How many and what are the other students like?
Our class size typically ranges from 6 to a maximum of 25 students. For larger groups, previous Diploma students will be on hand to assist. We do not have a fixed set of students like traditional colleges. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and span a wide age range, from 20 to 75! At the beginning, it’s natural for most students to feel a bit nervous about meeting everyone for the first time. However, rest assured that you will always be welcomed, heard, and supported. By the end of the weekend, you’ll likely have formed new friendships.
What if I can't do it?
Rest assured, you absolutely can do it, and there’s no concept of passing or failing on our weekend course. If at any point you feel unsure, overwhelmed, or defeated, please don’t hesitate to speak to either myself or one of the classroom assistants. We’ve all experienced these feelings before, and we’re here to help you overcome any challenges.
Do I have the right voice for Hypnotherapy?
There’s no definitive “right” or “wrong” voice for Hypnotherapy. Over the weekend, you’ll gain an understanding of how the tone of your voice, rather than your accent or pitch, can influence hypnosis. You’ll learn how to subtly tweak your voice to achieve the desired outcomes.
What if I do not like the course?
It’s perfectly okay if you find that the course doesn’t resonate with you. We recognise that everyone is unique. If you ever find yourself in this situation, please communicate your feelings with us. We may be able to make adjustments to improve your comfort and experience.
How can I take my training further?
Once you’ve successfully completed the Hypnotherapy Discovery Weekend course, you’ll have the opportunity to advance to our practitioner-level Diploma course. You can use your certificate as module one of the ten-month course. For more detailed information on the next steps, please refer to our additional resources.
